Random Recall

On this edition of “Becoming Today” it’s less about structure and more about trying to share a lot of thoughts that keep popping into my head.

It’s a busy time as we prepare to wrap up this year of 20/20 +1 and look forward to the coming new cycle, so today a bit of free association to aid our thoughts along this shared journey.

Whatever happened  to the saying, “agree to disagree”? While we all know that things in the nation’s capital are in discord and civility is a concept that seems very foreign I was still shocked this week when I heard a legislator publicly and intentionally called her own party’s leader a four letter word. Well it actually has five letters beginning with ‘b” and I’m not going to put it on this page but it was intended to be truly and completely disrespectful.

How can we ever expect to affect change, if we can’t even be polite to one another?

It has to begin somewhere, and we know words have meanings and in those meanings is power.  So why are we allowing the tongue to become the main weapon of destruction?  What can we do to convince those who are allegedly elected to represent us that we no longer want to hear this kind of garbage?

It has to begin somewhere so I am encouraging you to spend some time  reflecting upon what you can do to remind these individuals they are “public servants” and as such are held accountable for their rude and downright ignorant  behaviors: whi9ch we should no longer sit idly by and tolerate.

Totally random reminder #1:

Never forget what God has promised you by Divine Covenant.

Totally random reminder #2:

When it comes to seeking peace you just cannot do it passively. You must be bold about it, you must do it intentionally, steadfastly and constantly.

Over the past couple of weeks I began a new exercise. not in my daily workout routine but in my journal. I’m not doing it every day though maybe I should be, I’ve been averaging about three times a week.

It’s a way that I’m truly in touch with and glorifying all that I am grateful for.

It started out with one of those thoughts that just popped into my head. How many ways am I grateful? Let me count the ways …  And the number that popped into my head was well let’s start with 26.

Hmmm,..and while we’re at it, why not do it alphabetically!

So that’s what I’ve been doing going through the alphabet A through Z writing a simple word for something that I am truly grateful for.

In the following image I’ll share one of those lists.  Now I will say if I get stuck on a letter I’ll skip ahead and go back to it . So you don’t have to do them exactly in order but it just makes for an easier presentation when you’re reviewing it to see them that way , or at least I think it does.

Totally random reminder #3:

God is about to carry you into abundance, joy and peace. You are not stuck, you are being lifted and carried. Don’t believe me? Well check out Psalm 68:19 in the New Living Testament version of the Bible, then tell me what you think.

Don’t worry about circumstances, instead put that energy into changing yourself. When you do the situations will correct themselves because you are “Becoming”.

Totally random reminder #4:

As we approach Christmas, do you realize that the Virgin Mary, often referred to as Mother Mary and seen as so spiritually mature, to give birth to Jesus, was extremely young for motherhood by today’s standards. Historians generally agree she was between 13 and 14 years old at the time of the Blessed and Miraculous event.

A reminder that age is just a number and we need to be better focused on the contents of the person’s character and not some label given to them.

Totally random reminder #5:

Pray for help and God will further empower His gifts within you.

Totally random reminder #6:

God already knows what you’re struggling with, and helps…. when asked.

Now here are some thoughts from the past week that I keep thinking back upon.

Be Kind To Yourself

We are all our own worst critics. Now is the best time to show yourself some kindness and compassion. Treat yourself like you would someone else. Nurture, be loving, and kind. The more you are able to let self-care become an automatic habitual response into your daily life, the more you are empowering yourself. (You go girl!)

Forgive and Forget

This is a vital part of “Becoming Today”. Not only forgiving others for perceived wrongs, and asking for forgiveness from those you may have hurt but also forgiving yourself.

It is then, and only then, that you can let go of anger, guilt, shame, or any other feeling limiting your growth. Let it go. Face forward, look upward and you get busy moving on.

To let go of past hurts, you need to make the conscious decision to take control of the situation. However, this can take time and practice. Be kind to yourself as you practice refocusing how you see the situation, and celebrate the small victories you have.

Joy is one of the greatest gifts we can receive.

I pray that you are consistently developing and redeveloping your joy.

Finding it, unleashing it, sharing it always be “Becoming” joyful, joy filled and joyous. A lack of joy is of our own creation, it is born from how we choose to respond to circumstances.

So I encourage you to: Choose Joy. Choose a Joyous Life.

That we know can be accomplished by nurturing yourself with positive, compassionate self-talk. Not hanging onto old baggage. Releasing the present interruptions and focusing on who you truly are.

Totally random reminder #7:

Each day we need to make the decision of whether or not we will walk in Faith or fear. In doing so, I choose to accept Mercy, Grace, Joy and Love by faithfully and fearlessly trusting in God.

Totally random reminder #8:

The Favor of God is always available for us. We must actively choose to seek and not only become rewarded with it, but also to put it to the best use in sharing for the good of the whole.

BTW, these reminders are as much, if not more so, for me if not you. Though I pray they are both helpful and hope-full.

What matters most is this moment and your willingness to see this moment for what it is. Accept it. Forgive the past. Take this responsibility and move forward.
