My Declaration of Independence

When last we spoke, it was a discussion of the individual ways you can realize your own Transformative Transition. Noting it will vary greatly, as no two people are alike, nor are we created to be the same. Embracing our differences and affording each other the compassion, dignity and respect which we are due ourselves will help us to form our own maps along this journey.

I  noted that for myself I am ready to become a Butterfly. To spread my wings and take flight to higher altitudes with better attitudes, more clearly defined actions and pollinating creation with as much love as humanly possible.

I asked you to reflect upon how you can, if you are willing to, accept this time as a season of great change for yourselves. Now here on Becoming Today I will share My Declaration of Independence…

The unilateral Declaration of Rochelle Jeanette 

When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one to dissolve the chains of bondage which have held them back, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which God entitles them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to be set apart.

I hold these truths to be self-evident, that all people are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. However they do not end here. I further assert that these God given birthrights also include being treated with Compassion, Dignity and Respect at all times. That mercy, forgiveness and Grace shall be adopted and accepted by all traveling along this shared path of “Becoming”.

That to secure these rights, covenants are entered into by people deriving their just powers from the moral consent of the righteous.  –That whenever any form of behavior becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new attitudes, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to affect their Safety and Happiness. 

Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Beliefs long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience has shown, that people are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed.

But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same culture which evinces a design to reduce them under the tyranny of irrational control, lack of true leadership, actions designed to produce a loss of hope and depression; it is their right, – truly it is their duty, to throw off such despotism and to provide new levels of loving and wisdom guided protection for their future security.

Such has been the patient forbearance of these walkers along the path of Becoming; and such is now the necessity which constrains them to alter their former systems of perceived realities. 

The history of the recent past being a culture that accepts and breeds repeated injuries and usurpations, all having in direct object the establishment of an absolute tyranny of division and disparity among individuals seeking to force them to live isolated, fearful to speak to one another or share beliefs beyond politicized propagandist and radical extremist rhetoric over us. 

To prove this, let facts be submitted to a candid and truth seeking world:

Doing so in sharing the wisdom and experiences of generations of our ancestors.

“A house divided against itself cannot stand.” -Abraham Lincoln 

Divided it can fail, separating us even further than today’s desperate culture has intended and so far been successful in. 

Something we were warned about centuries before Lincoln’s time when as relayed in the Bible in Matthew, 12:25 The King James Version reports, “And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand.”

We can only prosper by living in harmony. Differences must be set aside. Acceptance of each other as separate but equal individuals is required to empower an atmosphere of healing, growth and Becoming.

As far too many of those either elected or appointed to positions of leadership are regularly and continually failing to perform as leaders, counselors or advocates and in too many cases have been operating even further egregiously by refusing to Assent to Laws, including the most wholesome and necessary for the public good, a time of change has been necessitated.

As we regularly witness the inability to  pass laws of immediate and pressing importance,as well as those for the accommodation, acceptance and protection of large groups of people we must call out these deliberate obstructions to the Administration of Justice.

For these actions and the resolute politics of inaction are combining to literally in many cases (as well as even many more  metaphorical examples)  like the ones cited by my direct ancestors some 245 years ago, are continuing to plunder our seas, ravage our coasts, have left our cities burning, and are destroying the lives of our people.

They have incited domestic insurrections amongst us, and are endeavoring to further divide rather than coming together to affirm their oaths. Defying their oral and written covenants to support and defend the people they are choosing to represent furthermore bearing true faith and allegiance to the same Accepting such obligations freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and promising to well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: “So help me God”.

In good conscience I can no longer sit idly by nor remain silent. Understanding that I am not alone in my growing discontentment with the status quo and not wanting to continue being a victim of abusive and disrespectful behaviors and actions, the time has come for a Transformative Transition.

A local, national, global shift in consciousness and conscience enabling the rights of the individual to be heard, shared, freely communicated and restored to the levels our Creator intended. 

We are being granted the potential for momentous change and growth. Are you ready? I ask each and everyone of you, are you willing to accept this time of “Transformative Transition” and join me in seeing it’s Becoming?

As we embrace our time of Transformative Transition, just as the biological explanations of metamorphosis note we are accepting a profound change from one stage to the next in our lives. This can entail a complete change of form, structure, or substance, as well as differences  in  our appearance, character and intentionally intervening to react differently and either accept or deny your present circumstances.

In every stage of these Oppressions We have been enduring, we must petition for Redress in the most humble terms We must repeat and repeat again if necessary our calls for change, demanding that they no longer be answered by repeated injury.

Therefore be it resolved from this moment on, that  we who are traveling along this shared path of “Becoming” committ to taking actions, deliberate and responsible initiatives to do our part to work for the well being of all. 

To support compassion, dignity, respect, mercy and understanding of all individuals regardless of their race, gender, color, creed, demographic or any other way the “dividers” try to profile and categorize us for their purposes of intentional disunity.

We refuse to submit blindly to disrespectful, unhealthy and abusive behaviors, attitudes and policies. 

We choose to pursue a course that enlightens, invokes and advances ‘’the process of coming to be something or of passing into a state”. Coming to be always, “Becoming”. Growing, developing and shifting into an attitude and daily practice of “AlwaysBeing Becoming”.

And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor.

I thank you for allowing me to indulge a bit with some poetic license but I felt it necessary to better illuminate my point on how important this moment in time is for all of us. 

I do steadfastly and firmly believe we are consenting to actively participate in “the process of coming to be something or of passing into a state”. Coming to be always, “Becoming”. Growing, developing and shifting into an attitude and daily practice of “Always Being “Becoming”.

That is the very essence behind, “Becoming Today”.

I ask you to reflect upon this queries:

How do I, as an individual and we as a society, focus on “Becoming” what we are truly destined to be? 

How do we become all we can be?

How do we further enrich our lives and those of our families, friends, communities and society as a whole?  

What exactly is it we want to become today? 

Each and every day, becoming the best at whatever we desire, hope for, have set goals for, prayed for  and how do we achieve this state? 

I really do want to hear from you. I am eager for your responses, to address your questions and actively listen to your suggestions. For this project can not be accomplished by any one individual alone.

It is also why I am again making this pledge to you and hoping you’ll make the same to me and the collective “we”:

Coming together as independent individuals, sharing a planet, and intentionally setting our combined focus on becoming the strongest, most empowered God-fearing women we can be; it is vital we set these objectives, hopes and shared visions in writing, to make them truly achievable and to hold each of us and the “we” accountable. 

20/20 + 1 is the year beyond the reset button. 

The year you choose to make it. 

The year of “Becoming”

Becoming what? 

That’s what we are here to explore. 

Who is it I want to become

What do I want to see becoming?  

Where is this “becoming” taking place? 

Is it a physical location? 

In my mind?

Our minds? 

My heart? 

Our collective hearts? 

Is it a raising of a collective consciousness? 

Am I  further striving to be the best mature, strong empowered God fearing woman of Christ I can be?

These are all questions in play for each of us. Ultimately “Becoming Today” will take a decision for action on our part. Putting our thoughts in motion to become better, stronger, healthier, more loving, more balanced, better grounded, standing stronger in our convictions, beliefs and dreams.

20/20 + 1 has unlimited potential and offers us unprecedented opportunities for fine tuning and or reinventing ourselves. It has improved my vision for the future, focused my heart and given clarity to new horizons ahead. I pray it is lifting your spirits and revitalizing your sight for life and the future too.

No, I do not want to go back to the way things used to be. I’m not seeking a return to “normal”. What is normal anyway, and who thinks they can define it for me? I want better. I want to “Always Be Becoming”.

I want that state of “Becoming” to be something that is always evolving. Always advancing. Always allowing me to be becoming my destiny. 

I want my new way of living to be one of giving, shaing, caring, being, seeing, believing, becoming grateful, delivered, hopeful, faithful and abundant.

I am believing for 20/20 + 1 to be not only the best year of my life yet, but am praying for you to achieve the same.

I realize some of these thoughts may seem  extremely uncommon, extraordinary and definitely counter to current trends. However I truly believe they are attainable. So how do “we” continue forward? That’s where we’ll pick up our discussion tomorrow, here on Becoming Today.
