This week, we’ll be taking a look at some concepts some of you may have shared with us before. As we’ve now been walking this shared path together for over two years there are some lessons we need to recall and I’m recognizing the realization that many more people have joined us.
So on this edition of “Becoming Today” we’ll revisit a time when I came to understand that I was programming garbage within myself.

Originally posted as “GiGo “Becoming”: GoGi”, I began by noting:
No, I’m not speaking in tongues, though I do realize this will take some translation as I’m rewriting acronyms today. It’s another step on the path to “Becoming”.
As we’ve discussed previously, all of us have different ideas, needs, wants.
We all have to face different obstacles, road blocks, leap over hurdles and go around barriers. Nevertheless it can be done, and there is no reason that should stop us from “Becoming”.
I shared with you then that you get out of life what you put into it. I was expecting disaster and gloom and that was exactly what I was getting.

Years ago, more than I care to admit to, but even at the risk of dating myself (lol), I’ll share it anyways, there was a computer programming acronym “G.I.G.O.” It stood for Garbage In, Garbage Out.
If you programmed garbage, that’s exactly what would be produced by the machine for you. It wasn’t the computer’s fault, it was the operator’s error. Conversely if you programmed with the right sequence, proper language and a formatted design, then you could achieve a desired result.
Flashback forward to the present, and all these decades later, I was putting garbage in my mind, my heart and my soul. So what else could I be able to receive but pure rubbish?
Then it hit me, (finally) that if I wanted to become, I had to make changes. I had to make new commitments. I had to accept new obligations. If I wanted to become something, I had to start, in a very active way. This is where “Becoming” becomes my new way.
And a new way deserves a new acronym, right?
So I’m turning “G.I.G.O.” around and now talking “G.O.G.I.”:
Garbage
Out
Greatness
In
It’s time to take out the trash, put all the rubbish to the curb and get on with “Becoming”.
I was at the lowest point in my life when I discovered ( for lack of a better word, more like was led to kicking and screaming ), this concept. Oh my glass was far less than half full, my vessel was completely bone dry empty. Sometimes you have to be broken down in order to be lifted up. So I was, and it was then I came to understand I had to take some steps to initiate my own renewal.
- Desire.
- Commitment.
- Sustained Efforts.
- Realization of “Becoming”.
I had turned a corner and knew victory was just around the bend.

So I had to make that moment, that day my turning point. I’m glad I did, because I have never felt so blessed, filled with happiness, optimism, and HOPE.
Yes my Faith had been restored. My vision was “becoming” clearer. My thoughts sudden;y defied the logic of the situation and my sense of hope was overflowing.
It was my turning point day.
All because I took one small, baby step. I made a decision. To take the trash out:.
“G.O.G.I.”:
Garbage

I had the desire to change to be “Becoming”, to live again and at a more authentic level than ever before. Are you starting to notice a pattern here?
- Desire.
- Commitment.
- Sustained Efforts.
- Realization of “Becoming”.
I never said it was easy. I never said it would be straight forward, idiot proof or undemanding. It is simply necessary that some steps are to be repeated. After all, you can not walk a mile, if you don’t walk the first five thousand two hundred seventy nine ( 5,279 ) feet.
Nevertheless, it’s all worth the effort. The fact that I’m still here to share these thoughts with you is a living testimony to it.
Please make this your turning point day. It all starts with a simple decision. To say “yes”. Then the simple steps begin to reveal themselves.
The idea of living an authentic life has been an elusive one to me. I’d say things, like “i ought to”, or “well maybe someday I will”. Well someday never comes, tomorrow isn’t promised , so you might as well get to it today, on this your turning point day.

Let the greatness in and tomorrow I’ll talk more about living an authentic life.
